Who are we? We are an independent practice providing architectural services. As a new generation multi-disciplinary consultancy, Petrie Design is focused on delivering good design in the built environment. We're committed to tackling climate change and recognise how important our own contribution is as a small rural business.
Where are we based? We are Cumbrian & Lake District practioners with a base in South Lakeland. Our high street studio office is sited at the southern end of the market town of Kendal, in the historic part of Kirkland. We are nearby the Parish Church and close to the Abbot Hall Gallery.
What are we about? Whether you are thinking of a scratch-built and unique one-off house or planning adaptations and improvements to an existing site, we can realise beautiful and sustainable schemes. Our commitment is to work hand-in-hand with the people who use, live, work and thrive on these sites.
How do we do it? Our approach is to adopt environmentally intelligent and informed traditional design fit for the contemporary 21st Century. We are not bound to any one particular style and embrace a range of design, environmental and technological influences. The common factor in each of our projects is considered and careful attention to detail. We also respect the conserved fabric of site and the integrity of the surrounding landscape.

We can make site visits on this basis, subject to distance and location.
What to do next? Our initial consultations are aimed at establishing client requirements. For commission purposes a written fee proposal will be prepared for your consideration and prior to any engagement. When fully commissioned for our services, we shepherd projects through the recommended CIC/ CIAT/ RIBA work stages. We use our extensive experience to explore a client's project brief and to turn their aspiration into a workable reality.

Where are we? Our studio office can be found at 29 Kirkland, Kendal, Cumbria LA9 5AF and we are ideally located for the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales.
Our general catchment includes the North of England and Scottish Borders region, but we do consider all UK wide commissions.
We are open 5 days a week- 9am to 5pm. Our Monday openings are restricted to priorappointment only due to site commitments. The studio will be closed on this day, so please call to arrange before visiting.
